Stan began serving First Baptist Church as Senior Pastor on December 1, 2015. He loves the local church and missions having served over the last 46 years in 8 churches (including planting a church) in Tennessee and Texas, while also serving as Director of Missions of Big Hatchie Baptist Association in Covington, Tn. He has led numerous mission trips to Thailand, Taiwan, Ecuador, South Africa, Alaska and Idaho. He is a graduate of Union University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Christian Studies. Presently, Stan is serving on the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.
Stan and his wife, Monica, have a daughter, three sons and 8 grandchildren.
Stephen joined First Baptist Church of Somerville in the summer of 2006, having served in local churches in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee since 1977. He is committed to equipping believers for worship and leading them in worship. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Church Music from Louisiana College, a Master of Church Music from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Theology from Hartford University.
He and his wife, Kay, are natives of Vicksburg, Mississippi. They have two children: Craig, who lives in Memphis, and Lindsey, who is married to Matt and lives in Somerville, and are the parents of their grandsons, Hudson, Hayden, and Hank.
Ashley was born and raised in Somerville, TN. She is active in her home church at Mt. Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Laconia. She has an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Ashely taught Pre-School for 8 years in Collierville and Cordova before becoming a Pre-School Director in Oakland for eight and a half years.
Ashley and her husband, Mike, have two daughters. Katelyn is 13 and Kara is 8. They both attend Fayette Academy. She feels very blessed to have this opportunity to work with the First Baptist Church staff and help spread God's Word throughout her community.
Shirley Ann Redfearn serves as Church Clerk and Financial Secretary of First Baptist Church, Somerville, TN. She has been a member of FBC since 1977. She is married to Jerry W. Redfearn and they reside in the Somerville city limits. Ms. Redfearn is grateful for the opportunity to serve her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at FBC and hopes to continue as long as her service pleases the church and the Lord.
Born in Texas, Fern spent 20 years as an army wife, 11 years as a Pastor's wife, and 11 years as a Missionary with the Home Mission Board in Alaska. She came to Somerville, TN and joined First Baptist in 2001. She has served as Senior Adult Department Secretary, WMU Director, substitute and SS Teacher, and has assisted in maintaining music for the choir. Fern also sings in the Sanctuary Choir and the Royal Heirs Choir. She has loved being a staff Part-time Office Worker since 2011.
Mike was born and raised in Fayette County, Tn. He has been an employee of the Town of Collierville for 22 years where he now serves as the Facilities Manager. He is a member of the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) and is currently on the board of this organization’s Memphis Chapter. He has the Facility Management Professional (FMP) and Sustainable Facility Professional credentials through the IFMA organization.
Mike is a member of the Mt. Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church located in Laconia, TN. In his spare time, Mike enjoys woodworking, repurposing old furniture, and spending time with his friends and family.
Emily Waldon grew up at First Baptist Church. She is the daughter of Susan and Michael Waldon, and she graduated high school at Fayette Academy in 2017. Emily goes to college at Austin Peay State University to attain a degree in Public Relations. Emily is heavily involved in campus life at Austin Peay by working in the Communications Department. Emily is an anchor for the news station on campus, APSU-TV News. Emily is also the current president of the National Broadcasting Society on campus. Emily has held several leadership roles in her sorority, the Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha, that include: Treasurer, Social Chair, Vice President of Membership Education, Editor and Historian, Vice President of Alum and Heritage, and is currently the Vice President of PR and Recruitment. Emily is also a member of the BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry) on campus.
Ron Thompson has been “running media” since ... a long time ago. He worked at Midway Baptist in San Diego. There the sermons were broadcasted on the radio. Ron also worked at Germantown Baptist. There the sermons were broadcasted on television, back in the days when it took two people to lift a camera. Ron currently works for Union University as a media support technician.
Other things Ron enjoys doing in his spare time includes: reading, listening to music, and spending time with his wife Betty.
Ethan has a passion for reaching the next generation for Christ. Young people can do great things for the Kingdom, and Ethan loves to invest in those people to help them grow in Christ. Ethan has a heart for discipleship and relationship building, which is the core of his ministry strategy. Students and young adults can/will do great things for the Kingdom, and he is excited to see that happen at FBC Somerville!
Ethan has served in churches throughout middle and west Tennessee. He has served as the Student and Recreation Pastor at FBC McKenzie, and has served as Student Pastor at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church in Columbia, TN. He has also served part-time at various other churches and has worked for LifeWay Christian Resources.
Ethan obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mississippi College, Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and will complete a Master in Theology from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2022!
Ethan met his wife Ariella in the summer of 2016 and they married fall of 2017. Ariella is a neonatal intensive care nurse originally from the Clarksville, Tennessee area. Ethan and Ariella have one daughter, Lydia Grace, born in June of 2020.
