Stephen joined First Baptist Church of Somerville in the summer of 2006, having served in local churches in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee since 1977. He is committed to equipping believers for worship and leading them in worship.  Stephen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Church Music from Louisiana College, a Master of Church Music from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Theology from Hartford University.
 
He and his wife, Kay, are natives of Vicksburg, Mississippi.  They have two children:  Craig, who lives in Memphis, and Lindsey, who is married to Matt and lives in Somerville, and are the parents of their grandsons, Hudson, Hayden, and Hank.
